you want to express yourself creatively
You want to express yourself creatively, and you don’t know where (or how) to begin
There are seasons when the blank page feels more daunting than usual.
You sit down with your paints, papers & pens… and nothing comes.
No big idea. No clear vision. No inspired spark.
If that’s where you are right now, I want to gently remind you:
You don’t need a masterpiece. You need a beginning.
When you don’t know what to create, return to simplicity. Return to play. Return to watercolor.
Watercolor is my favorite medium.
Let the water move first. Let color bloom without agenda. Use watercolor pencils to loosely sketch shapes — leaves, circles, abstract lines — and soften them with a damp brush. Add oil pastels for texture and contrast. Scratch into the pigment. Layer light over dark. Let it be imperfect. Let it be yours.
Creation is not about knowing. It’s about listening.
And often, the act of beginning is what clears the path to creating and inspiration.
If You Need a Gentle Nudge…
If you’d like a little companionship while you paint, visit my YouTube channel at Bloom True (https://www.youtube.com/@BloomTrue).
A few simple starting points you might try:
* Paint loose watercolor florals with no outline — just shape and breath.
* Create a soft abstract wash background and layer watercolor pencil marks over it.
* Make a “color mood” page: choose three colors that match how you feel and let them speak.
* Follow along with a Mindful Mondays video and let it be your creative reset.
You don’t have to invent something new. You can simply show up and paint alongside me.
Before you Go
Here are a few gentle nudges to make play a living part of your life (and your creative journey) rather than merely a nice idea:
You are allowed to create poorly.
Ask: What am I accomplishing when I give myself time to create? If it is for my own enjoyment and emotional wellness, this is more than enough and it does not have to be a masterpiece. You are allowed to begin again and again.
Remember, it’s only paper, paint and whatever other mediums you choose. Mis-steps are how we learn and even develop our unique creative voice.onYou are allowed to take up creative space.
Your ideas, expression, and voice are worthy and welcome—without apology or comparison. Give yourself permission to create, experiment, and be seen exactly as you are.Want to see what’s new in the shop, and treat yourself to an original hand-made art journal, collage papers, or an inspirational art print, or original painting?

If you’re reading this, you’re already part of a community that values emotional support, self-care, and nervous system regulation through creative expression. On my Instagram @bloom_true, I share gentle art prompts, mixed-media & watercolor inspiration, and short bursts of encouragement to remind you that creativity is for you. And on my YouTube channel I offer deeper explorations: short tutorials, reflections on how expressing plays into self-care, and meditative art-sessions you can join from home.
So wherever you are—I invite you: play - create, discover & grow! Welcome your creative self. Let your nervous system feel the richness of movement and color and texture. Let your heart feel the delight and lightness of an experiment that has no agenda. Then share what feels true, what comes through your hands, what your inner self registers. Tag me, message me, show me your process—let’s nourish one another.
